Frequently asked questions : All you need to know about tattoos

What is special about Amulett Tattoo?

There is no time pressure here, each of the Tattoos i perform are unique and so are you! I ll take the time to discuss your project with you, draw a specific design to fullfill your taste and place it to fit exactly to your wish. Individual advice, precise adaptation of the motive, as well as support during the healing process, and professionnal tattooing are what you can expect from Amulett Tattoo.

How can I book?

So that we can start right away I ask you to define a few points: 1. Have you already found your dream motif? If so, please send me a picture and where and how big you want it. With this we can quickly arrange a engraving date. 2. do you have a wish but no finished motif, would you like us to develop it together? Then please send me some inspiration pictures : it can be photo, drawing, ideas… And important is that you write about how big and where you want it. Then we will make an appointment to discuss it together. The meeting is free of charge and without obligation, each appointment is confirmed by a deposit of 100 chf. This will be deducted from the final price. In case of cancellation or no-show, the deposit will not be refunded.

How much Does an Amulett Tattoo costs?

The prices are charged depending on the difficulty , size and preparation time of the motive. Please keep in mind that you will wear this Art-piece for the rest of your life! Don’t you wish to have it luxurious and perfect?

I often say : if you are in a budget, do less tattoos but do good ones, at the end a cheap tattoo get too expensive (laser price are 3 times more expensive than regular tattoo prices). I will give you a price range during our first meeting, after defining the size, the placement and the design of your Tattoo.

How long will it take?

Everyone’s different, and so is their skin. The client’s unique physical traits, where they’re getting the tattoo, and how their skin reacts to the process, as well as how sensitive they are to pain, really affect how long the session lasts. Because of all these reasons, it’s pretty tough to know exactly how long it’s gonna take.

Just be patient and enjoy the process!

Which kind of Tattoo ist good for me?

The tattoo world has been expanding and redefining itself extremly in the last 10 years. Many styles emerged: dotwork, Finelines, Ornemental, etc… At Amulett Tattoo, my heart beats for elegant, thin and discreet tattoos. Less is more, and tattoos can be chic. During our preappointment, I ll give you the opportunity to fulfill your wishes. No matter how big or how small, we’ll rock it! To find out which tattoo ist perfect for you, look around for some inspirations, keep your eyes open, collect some images so we can advise together which style suits you best.

What is a deposit and why do i have to pay it to book my appointment?

The deposit of 100CHF is intended to ensure that the appointment is not forgotten. In the event of your no-show, it is also a small compensation for the lost time in which i could not take any other customer. It doesn’t mean that i don not trust you. However experience shows that it is necessary to ask for it. In the end, the deposit will be deducted from the final price and you’ll not pay more than we have agreed.

Why are tattoos on the hands, face or neck tricky and what should i consider?

Face, neck and hand tattoos are very trendy at the moment. However they are always visible and just as popular as they are criticized. But how can you be sure that you are ready for these tattoos that you won’t be able to hide? In addition to worrying about how the environment reacts to it, the followimg question also arises: How does it feel? What is it like to make this decision and implement the desire to have a highly eye-catching tattoo on your body forever? You can only see how you deal with the criticism once the tattoo is under your skin…

In addition, these areas often come in contact with solar radiation or are rubbed more heavily, as on the hands. These tattoos therefore age faster than elsewhere. On the fingers, the tattoo almost systematically needs a touch-up after some weeks and the risk of blow-out is significantly higher than anywhere else. In those areas, the prospect of a long-lasting beautiful tattoo is way smaller. Basically i advise against choosing such places for your first tattoo.

What is a Touch-up and do I need it at all?
At Amulett Tattoo we take care of a perfect result. After tattooing, depending on the healing process and skin type, some lines may need to be touched up within a month. Fineline tattoos are very demanding, that’s why the price includes the re-tattooing.

However, not every tattoo needs a re-piercing appointment. If you are unsure, you can send us a photo, we will be happy to advise you.

We can also touch-up or refresh other tattoos, but at the normal rate.

When should I come back for re-stitching and do I need it at all?
Re-stitching is done within max 2 months after your tattoo appointment with us. Each re-piercing appointment is offered once, in case of a no-show or a cancellation at too short notice, this appointment is cancelled and will be charged normally the second time.

There is of course also the possibility of foreign tattoos or amulet tattoos older than 2 months to be touched up.

Where should i do my first tattoo?

That choice is completely up to you! For the reasons mentioned above, i would advise against choosing a spot that is too obvious for your first tattoo. The upper arm, thigh or calf, for example very suitable for taking the first step into the big tattoo world!

Can I do laser hair-removal on my tattoo?
NO WAY !!!! Laser hair-removal is ABSOLUTELY forbidden on tattoos! If your beautician doesn’t inform you about it, and laser hair removal is done on your tattoo, it is better to change your cosmetic studio.

In the case of a tattoo made in Amulett Tattoo but damaged by laser hair-removal, the touch-ups will be charged.

*How painful is it to get a tattoo? May I use numbing cream?

The intensity of the pain depends on the body part and on the duration of the stinging. The longer the more painful, the more sensitive skin the more painful….

Any kind of anesthetic cream is not used for Amulett Tattoo. According to the Swiss Tattoo Association, they carry a high risk of allergies or severe skin reactions and are therefore taboo.

Why should my tattoo have a minimum size?
Depending on the placement and skin type, you should make sure that the design is not too small so that it does not grow together over the years. I will be happy to advise you.

Why can’t I bring pets to the appointment ?
For hygienic reasons it is not recommended to have a pet in the room. Some people may also have allergic reactions.

Why can’t I bring a companion to the appointment ?
Our studio is small and small. Therefore, only a limited number of people can fit in. That’s why we ask you to come without an escort. This way we can ensure that everyone feels comfortable and we can concentrate well on our work (or on your tattoo).

I am under 18 years old, can I still get a tattoo?
If you are between 16 and 18 years old, you should bring me your ID and a signed written permission from one of your parents before the appointment. This permission must include the following:

  • A copy of the ID of one of your parents.
  • The phone number of one of your parents
  • A detailed description of the tattoo motif, the size and the intended body part.

Here you can download the form, have it signed by your parents and take it with you to the appointment, please, do not forget to bring a copy of their ID.

What inks and products are used at Amulett Tattoo?
At Amulett only vegan and high quality products are used. I care as much about the quality of the products as I do about the tattooing and the company of my clients themselves.
